The registered version of Maze Explorer gives you access to an editor to allow you to create, edit and delete mazes for use in all three parts of the program.
The maze editor option is not visible on startup as you might not want all users to have access to it. This part of the user guide is separate for the same reason.
You will be sent instructions for accessing the Maze Editor along with your registration number.
When you activate the Maze Editor, a new menu will appear on the menu bar called Edit-Mazes. Choose the Edit Mazes option from this menu. You will then move to the editor screen ...
This editor can edit mazes from all three parts of Maze Explorer.
Using the editor’s tools
The editor has four tools; Block, Free, Exit and Start.
To use a tool, click on its button and then click on the square of the maze you want to apply it to. Be careful to place exits and the start position in logical positions. Only set one start position.
Creating a new maze
To set up a new, blank maze, choose New maze from the Edit-Mazes menu.
Editing an maze
To edit a maze that already exists, choose Edit maze from the Edit-Mazes menu.
Mazes are saved according to the part of Maze Explorer you want to use them with. Because of this, you must first select which section you want and then the maze to edit.
Saving a maze
To save a maze that you have created or edited, choose Save maze from the Edit-Mazes menu.
If the maze already has a name, you will simply be told that it has been save successfully. However, if your maze was untitled, you will be presented with a dialog that allows you to name the maze and select which part to save it to.
By clicking on the Maze Explorer options on the right hand side, you can specify which part of the program you want your maze to work with.
Saving a maze with a new name
To save a maze that already exists but with a new name or as a maze for a different part of Maze Explorer, choose Save maze as ... from the Edit-Mazes menu.
Again, you can specify which part of the program you want your maze to work with.
Deleting a maze
To delete a maze, choose Delete maze from the Edit-Mazes menu.
This operation does not apply to the maze you can currently see on screen. Instead, you will see the usual dialog box letting you choose which maze from which part of the program to delete.
Closing the maze editor
To return to the main program, choose Close maze editor from the Edit-Mazes menu.
